Civil Engineering covers 19 areas of specialization ranging from geophysics engineering to transportation to construction. Civil engineers abide by many company and government policies in order to shape the modern physical and natural world. They work alongside virtually all types of engineers to design, construct and maintain a large variety of structures such as bridges and dams. This category of engineering dates back 5,000 years to the construction of the Pyramids of Giza. Many of human’s greatest feats, such as the Great Wall of China and the Panama Canal, were made possible because of civil engineering.
