Observation Paper on Infancy/And Early Childhood Development

You will have two tasks for this assignment: 1) performing the activity or observation looking for aspects of physical, cognitive, social/emotional development (perceptual, motor, social, cognitive, language, etc.) which are related to the theories discussed in discussion, section, and readings, and 2) write a 2 - 3 page response to 2/5 developmental stages below. Be sure to show a relationship to course material. Using theories by Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg

As with any psychology writing, this must be in APA style.

You must observe and write a synopsis for these 2 listed below

Infancy/Early Childhood (2 - 3 pages)

Middle/ Late Childhood (2 - 3 pages)

For one hour, try to write down EVERYTHING the subject does. Look for aspects of physical, cognitive, social/emotional development (perceptual, motor, social, cognitive, language, etc.) Try not to summarize. Write down the subject’s speech word-for-word. If the subject is talking to someone else, write down the other person’s replies too, if you can. Describe the subject’s movements. Throughout, keep your description as free of evaluation and words of intent as you can. Do not write "she went into the kitchen to get a cookie." You don’t know why she went. What you saw was that she stopped what she had been doing, got up, and walked into the kitchen. There you saw her getting a cookie. Describe the behavior that way rather than making assumptions about what is happening in the subject’s head. Avoid words like try, angrily, pleaded, wanted, and the like. Describe only what you see and hear.
Step 6: Write a 3 page response to the developmental stage observed.
